19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional title, took control to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
