I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Former twice world boxing king Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Mindset

"I plan to injure his face and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, said.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - usually known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he said.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's greatest money-making draws, frequently receiving huge paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.

Size Disparity

As both boxers engaged in the usual face-off, with their physical disparity on show, it highlighted just how surprising this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really proceeding.
